Good Marketing is Always Alive
What's the Deal With Meetings...and Millenials?

For generations, marketing has been hypocritical. We’ve been taught to market to others in ways we hate being marketed to — so why do we keep trying the same stale marketing moves? Scott Stratten is an “unmarketer” and an expert in viral, social, and authentic marketing. Using real life, practical examples, along with a good dose of humour, he shows audiences how to “unlearn” the old ways and consistently attract, engage, and hold on to the right customers.

Formerly a music industry marketer, national sales training manager, HR professional, and college professor, Stratten is currently the president of UnMarketing. Prior to this, he ran one of the most successful viral video agencies in the world for nearly a decade before solely focusing on speaking. He has worked with companies like Walmart, PepsiCo, Adobe, IBM, Microsoft, Cirque du Soleil, and Saks Fifth Avenue to help them navigate their way through the landscape of business disruption.

Stratten is the co-author of six bestselling business books, including UnBranding: 100 Branding Lessons for the Age of Disruption and the forthcoming, UnLeadership: Make Building Relationships Your Business. His writing has also appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Huffington Post, USA Today, Entrepreneur Magazine, CNN.com, Inc.com, and Fast Company, among many other media outlets.

Client reviews

  • As the opening keynote at the BC Hospitality Industry Conference, Scott Stratten got things off to a fabulous start. His energy and enthusiasm for his topic were infectious and inspirational (especially given the early hour!). I have received only positive feedback from those in attendance including one long-time delegate who declared Scott to be our best presenter EVER! The topic of Unmarketing made a dramatic and noteworthy impact on many in the room and the halls were buzzing with discussions about Scott’s presentation for some time after. Thank you for starting our conference off with a bang and I will look forward to working with you again!

  • Scott Stratten changes minds, careers, and organizations in less than an hour. He held our People Report Summer Camp audience spellbound, from start to finish, blowing up traditional marketing models that no longer work in the digital age. Scott’s passionate message of engagement with customers and employees was delivered in a power packed presentation that left our audience laughing, crying, tweeting, blogging and running back to change how they think and act in their lives and businesses.

  • Not only were you one of the best, most knowledgeable and most entertaining speakers I’ve ever seen (and I do mean EVER!) but combining humor, entertainment, and hard-hitting golden nuggets of education, you motivated those in attendance to take action; and that is the sign of a a top presenter.

  • His presentation absolutely blew everyones socks off!

  • It was an amazing and unique presentation that I feel fortunate to have seen.

  • Informative and inspiring – not to mention wickedly entertaining. The many “ah-ha!” moments that came from reading his book were reinforced ten-fold through his personal engagement with us at our leadership conference.

  • WOW! Scott delivered a blockbuster keynote talk at BlogWorld 2010 and set the tone for our entire event. He is one of the most entertaining, knowledgeable and captivating public speakers I have ever seen! Scott tailored the content of his keynote talk to our audience, he promoted his talk at our event relentlessly for months beforehand building tremendous anticipation, he engaged our community on twitter, Facebook, and other social media outlets so by the time the event rolled around expectations were very high. Scott exceeded them all and left our crowd of 1,000+ attendees feeling inspired, energized and gave them real actionable take-aways. Our attendees are still talking about Scott’s performance. Beyond that, Scott is a genuine and sincere person who connected with hundreds of our attendees in person. He made each of them feel special and important. I cannot recommend him highly enough. If you are looking for a keynote speaker your attendees will be comparing others to for years to come, Scott is your man.

  • An eye-opener of why, and how, we need to start shifting our marketing weight from the broadcast leg to the dialogue leg. And it doesn’t hurt one bit that he made it the funniest and most entertaining presentation we all sat through in 2010.

  • Scott was one of the most well received speakers we have ever had. Not only was he engaging, but also informative. Delegates were able to walk away with valuable and usable information. People are already asking us to have him back again next year. He really was, as one delegate wrote, “FABULOUS.”

  • I don’t even know where to begin…I have no words to describe how amazing Scott was. His commanding energy, storytelling ability and business advice was sure to change the mindset of everyone in the room. Aside from that, he was hysterical.
